Justin McMinn: McMinn Law Firm
“Fighting for the rights of good people in bad situations is what we do,” says personal injury attorney Justin McMinn.By Jon Black
A partner with his brother, Jason, at the Austin-based McMinn Law Firm, Justin is rapidly earning accolades for the work, and the results, he delivers on behalf of personal injury clients. His awards include the 2015 Top 10 Under 40 award by the National Academy of Personal Injury Attorneys, the Super Lawyers Rising Star award for 2014 and 2015 as well as 2014’s Top 100 Trial Lawyers and Top 40 Under 40 from National Trial Lawyers.
Justin says it’s important that accident victims understand that big, impersonal insurance companies don’t necessary have their best interests as a priority. “Insurance companies are interested in protecting their bottom line. But we’re here to make sure victims get what they need.”
The McMinn Firm’s lawyers have a strong track record of recovering compensation and winning settlements for their clients. The firm handles a full range of personal injury cases, including motor vehicle accidents, bike and pedestrian accidents, construction accidents, dog bites and wrongful death.
For Justin, a comprehensive client-centered approach sets the McMinn Firm apart from the competition. “We encourage open communication and are available 24/7 to help you get through this difficult time,” he says. The firm also operates on a contingency-fee basis, so clients are responsible for no legal fees unless they receive money as result of the settlement of a case.
As another strong asset for the firm, brother Jason used to work as an attorney for the insurance companies. Now at McMinn, that experience gives him valuable insight into the strategies and tactics of the other side’s legal team.
The family connection between the two McMinn brothers is essential to the firm’s success. “Working with Jason is fantastic. All our lives we’ve been competitive and not afraid to argue with each other,” Justin explains. “That’s a benefit to our clients because he and I can argue opposite stances for argument’s sake as we go through a case and hash out all the issues. Most lawyers don’t get that kind of ‘check.’”
Justin McMinn received his law degree from the Texas Tech School of Law. His professional affiliations include the Texas Young Lawyers Association, State Bar of Texas and Texas Trial Lawyers Association. While completing his degree, he worked for a personal injury law firm which helped him develop his passion for assisting people seriously injured in accidents. He holds an undergraduate degree in government from the University of Texas.
When not at the office or working on a case, Justin enjoys spending time outdoors with his family. He and his wife, Kendall, are active with Lake Hills Church in Austin.
Beyond seeking justice for their clients, the McMinn law firm is active in promoting positive change in the community. “Austin needs more than juries, courts and even dedicated people to help people who have been hurt. Austin needs local businesses committed to our community,” Justin says. McMinn Law is a regular contributor to Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) as well as Kids In a New Groove (KING), a non-profit organization helping youth in the foster care system build solid life foundations through music.
“My passion is seeking justice for people whose health, lives, families and ability to earn a living have been jeopardized as a result of accident or injury through no fault of their own,” Justin says, “I want help those people get back on their feet.”
